I upgraded my ps3 160gb hdd to 750gb. Bought this: to use the old HDD as a portable storage device. When I originally installed the HDD the PC couldn't see it because it was formatted to some PS3 format. I could see it in disk management but it wasn't useable yet. (or able to be formatted w/ right click) I downloaded HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool v2 and formatted the HDD as FAT32. It worked great and it was visible as E:/ and looks fine. So I threw a movie on there before I went to work and left it plugged into my PC.
Turned off PC when I went to work. Well turned it on just now and it gave me some red X error saying drivers were not installed or something. So I unplugged it and plugged it back in and now it's saying device is not recognized. Any idea what the deal is? I can't even see it in disk management now.
Light is on when it's plugged in. Both USB plugs are in. It was working just fine for a moment there and just randomly isn't now. I had to repeat that one to myself to absorb it all. So, you are saying it could possibly be the hdd?
Well it was fine in the ps3 and I literally bought the ps3 like 1 month ago so that's probably a no yeah? Usb cable, well I bought the external encloser from newegg just this week which the cable came with so I'd assume it's good condition since it's literally a week old. Power supply I almost 100% doubt because I did an upgrade not more than a few years ago w/ recommendations from this site and have a pretty stellar seasonic psu. Usb port, (I know this is turning into a pattern) but that's also brand new pretty much since I just replaced the mobo on this rig. Maybe it was just a fluke?
Should I get a hold of newegg about it in case it was a defect in what they sold me? It all seems perfectly fine now.
